My grandfather's life started in Imperial Russia in 1889. Time has taken him through the Soviet Revolution, the disaster of the Second World War, the false years of glory and utopia of the Soviet Unoin.
Despite all circumstances that were surrounding him, being a true artist, he managed to project his strong personality, ideas and talant on to his drawings, graphical work and books.
He gave his all to people - his talent, knowledge and passion. Iakov Chernikhov was always sorrounded by his loving family, friends, his students and his work.
And he has left so much behind - he is still with us - in our memories, in his drawings and in the thoughts of those who are still admiring his creations.
